Convection (ventilation) enclosure

These are most commonly made of insulation materials, where the lower and upper parts of the enclosure are fitted with grates. The lower grate allows air to enter the enclosure, where it is heated and subsequently returns to the room through the upper grate. This type of enclosure is best used in combination with a hot-air and hot-water fireplace insert.

Radiant enclosure

This enclosure is made of an accumulation material. Unlike convection enclosures, these do not have grates and heat enters the room by radiating from the accumulation material. This means that heat is not released immediately, but rather gradually over time. This significantly reduces the immediate output and thus prevents overheating the room. However, it is necessary to ensure that specialized fireplace inserts are used for this purpose.

Hybrid enclosure

This is a combination of a convection and radiant enclosure. The enclosure is made of accumulation materials and also has grates. The fundamental advantage of this design is that if you need to quickly heat a room, you can open the grates and obtain higher output. Afterwards, close the grates and use radiant heating.
